Portfolio - Country Garden by Judith Sharpe
This garden was originally laid out in 1906. About 10 years ago the house was divided and this affected the layout of the formal garden as a wall and fencing were needed
to separate the property externally.
Jane Brown, garden historian, wrote that "the division of the house is the death of the garden".
We managed to disprove this theory. This was achieved by creating a cross-axis which entailed the removal of a section of 92-year-old yew hedging and positioning
the arbour feature and sunken pond opposite the new opening in the yew hedge, which led to the garden beyond.
